BCF Clarifies Controversial Fight Decision: What Really Happened?

The Boxing Commission of Fiji (BCF) has confirmed that Binnu Singh Junior emerged victorious over Krishnil Mudaliar by a split decision in their WBF Australasian Featherweight title bout held last Saturday at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.

Chairman Adi Narayan responded to online speculation during a press conference yesterday, addressing claims that Mudaliar was unjustly denied victory by a significant margin. He acknowledged that the official announcement regarding the fight’s outcome did not accurately reflect the judges’ scores.

“It was a close fight, no question about it, but the result announced was incorrect. It was stated as a majority decision when it was actually a split decision. Two judges scored in favor of Singh, while one judge scored for Mudaliar, making it a 2-1 decision,” Narayan clarified.

Narayan further explained that video recordings do not always provide a complete representation of the events as they unfold during matches. While the BCF chooses to overlook negative critiques on social media, Narayan emphasized that they could not dismiss comments from a licensed board member who accused them of corruption.

The BCF chairman disclosed that Mudaliar’s brother, a licensed member of the BCF, had his license revoked due to these allegations. “We do not require members who tarnish our reputation by making baseless claims. His license will not be renewed,” Narayan stated.

He warned other BCF members against using social media to tarnish the organization’s reputation. “Any licensed member making unfounded accusations on social media will face the same consequences. We are not a corrupt organization; we are dedicated individuals who volunteer our time for the sport,” Narayan asserted.

He dismissed all allegations of favoritism, biased officiating, and corruption leveled against the BCF following the event in Sigatoka.
