Sireli Maqala, the fullback for the Flying Fijians, delivered an outstanding performance, scoring the try-of-the-match in Bayonne’s impressive 37-7 victory over La Rochelle during their Top 14 match at Stade Jean Dauger Stadium yesterday.
Playing as an outside centre, Maqala initiated and completed a remarkable length-of-the-field attacking move, culminating in an acrobatic dive into the corner for a try in the 50th minute.
Bayonne established a solid lead in the first half, highlighted by tries from Aurelien Callandret, Facundo Bosch, Camille Lopez, along with a penalty try. The flyhalf contributed further with two conversions and a penalty.
La Rochelle managed to score a consolation try in the 71st minute, with Alexandre Kuntelia crossing the line and Ihaia West successfully converting.
