The annual East vs West golf tournament is scheduled to take place at the Fiji Golf Club on November 17. This one-day event will feature an exciting competition of 36 holes across various categories, including A, B, C, women’s, and juniors divisions.
Golf Fiji President Amitesh Chandra detailed that the tournament will unfold in two distinct sessions. The morning will feature a team-based Ambrose format, where pairs from each side compete within their respective grades. The afternoon session will transition into individual match play, where players can earn points through wins and draw scenarios.
Chandra emphasized the tournament’s spirit of competition and community, stating that the team with the highest points at the end of the day will emerge victorious.
Golf Fiji is fully funding the event, with an investment of $3,500, as part of their initiative to cultivate the sport and encourage friendly competition among golfers nationwide. Chandra noted that events like these not only enhance players’ skills but also fortify the golfing community.
As anticipation builds for the East vs West tournament, it promises to be a day of fierce competition and camaraderie, as golfers of all ages and skill levels aim to bring their best to the course. This gathering underscores the importance of community and collaboration in sports, fostering connections that go beyond the game itself.
This event highlights a wonderful opportunity for golfers to showcase their talents while united by a common love for the sport, ultimately enriching the local golfing landscape.
