Jarryd Hayne has characterized the Papua New Guinea Kumuls as a highly competitive team as the Vodafone Fiji Bati prepares for their upcoming match against PNG in the NRL Pacific Championship this Saturday at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
Following a training session, Hayne, alongside coach Wise Kativerata and technical staff, expressed his enthusiasm about the team’s readiness, which attracted numerous fans and supporters who came to watch.
“They are definitely a fiery bunch, and they love the tough stuff, so there will be plenty of action, and we (Bati) are going to come prepared,” Hayne stated.
He noted that the training session focused on strengthening the team’s defense and addressing areas needing improvement. “It all comes down to our defense. Today we worked on rushing the defense to apply pressure on the ball, and we need to maintain possession,” he explained.
Hayne emphasized the importance of learning from mistakes during training rather than during the game, highlighting the need for patience and composure.
Additionally, he expressed his enjoyment in assisting the team’s preparations for Saturday’s match and sharing his insights from his experience as a former Bati player.
