Fiji Swimming president Lucy Erasito expressed her appreciation to coaches for their commitment to the swimmers and to parents for their steadfast support. “The athletes have been training tirelessly over the past few months, diligently balancing their academics with their preparation. Their dedication has truly been remarkable,” Erasito commented.
The event witnessed the breaking of eight Age Group National records and six Fiji Open records. Erasito acknowledged the extraordinary achievements of Grace Khelan, Hansel McCaig, Nigel Simpson, and Samuel Yalimaiwai, who set new records at the National Championships.
Grace Khelan notably broke four records: two national records in the 11-12 age category for the 50m freestyle and 50m backstroke, and two Fiji short course open records in the same events. Nigel Simpson set two Fiji Short Course Open records in the 8 and Under category for the 50m freestyle and 200m backstroke. Samuel Yalimaiwai established a new National record in the 17 & Over category for the 50m breaststroke.
