Bangladeshis Lead in Fiji’s Work Permits Surge!

Bangladeshis have emerged as the largest group of foreign workers issued work permits in Fiji from January to July this year, according to Minister for Home Affairs, Pio Tikoduadua, who addressed Parliament.

Of the total 2,009 work permits granted during this period, 713 were allocated to Bangladeshi nationals. This trend reflects a growing demand, particularly in the construction and manufacturing sectors, for workers from Bangladesh.

Further statistics show that 245 permits were granted to Chinese nationals, while Indian nationals received 184 permits. Additionally, workers from the Philippines were issued 130 permits, followed by 108 from the United States, 105 from Australia, and 67 from Indonesia.
