Josese Cagica’s passion for food, nurtured in a family that cherishes culinary delights, led him to pursue a culinary education and establish his own bakery. Recently, he seized the opportunity to employ young people from Nadera during the Miss Hibiscus Festival, offering them a chance to earn a respectable income. Cagica described presenting his business at the festival as a novel experience, despite the difficulties he faces in building his reputation.
“Participating in the Miss Hibiscus Festival is a unique opportunity for me, especially as I introduce new pastries that have the potential to become popular in the area,” Cagica stated. He emphasized that events like this allow business owners to enhance their presence in the marketplace.
While focusing on growing his brand, ‘The Cake Lab,’ Cagica is dedicated to creating job opportunities for the youth in Nadera. Inspired by the festival’s spirit, he aims to give back to the community and improve the living standards of himself and the young people he meets. The encouragement from his parents, family, and friends has been instrumental in his journey.
“I am now getting local orders as well as requests from Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and Africa,” he shared. Despite the challenges he has faced, Cagica considers his progress a blessing rather than a burden.
