Baking Dreams: How One Entrepreneur is Shaping a Community

Josese Cagica’s culinary journey was influenced by his upbringing in a food-loving family, which motivated him to obtain a culinary qualification and establish his own bakery. At the recent Miss Hibiscus Festival, Mr. Cagica seized the opportunity to employ young people from Nadera, allowing them to earn a fair income. He expressed that participating in the festival was a novel experience, despite the hurdles involved in building his brand.

“Being here at the Miss Hibiscus Festival is a unique opportunity for me, especially as I introduce new pastries that could become popular in the area,” he stated. Mr. Cagica believes that events like the Hibiscus Festival enable business owners like him to enhance their presence and representation in the market.

In addition to focusing on his business, ‘The Cake Lab,’ Mr. Cagica is dedicated to providing job opportunities for the youth in Nadera. Inspired by the festival’s spirit, he aims to give back to the community, working to improve not only his living standards but also those of the young individuals he meets. The support from his parents, family, and friends has been a significant encouragement on his journey.

“I now receive local orders as well as requests from Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and Africa,” he added. Despite facing challenges, Mr. Cagica views this time as a period of blessing rather than hardship.
