The bail hearing for a 25-year-old man accused of murdering his pregnant wife in a Suva apartment has been rescheduled for October 31. Apisai Madigibuli appeared this morning before Justice Dane Tuiqereqere in the Suva High Court for the hearing. His attorney, Paula Gade, requested additional time to review new documents submitted prior to the hearing.
During a previous court session, state attorney Monisha Naidu indicated that the prosecution has a strong case against Madigibuli, supported by evidence including CCTV footage and a post-mortem report. Naidu also highlighted that Madigibuli used a mobile phone while in remand to communicate with his daughter, who is currently living with the deceased’s sister, a state witness, in Savusavu.
Madigibuli is accused of fatally stabbing Kitiana Baravilala with a kitchen knife on April 25.
