The Suva Magistrates Court has granted an extension of bail to Thakor Punja, who faces three counts related to the unlawful possession of illicit drugs. A Pre-Trial Conference has been scheduled for February 19, 2025.

Punja is alleged to have been found with 0.84 grams of methamphetamine, 5.447 grams of cocaine, and 6.6 grams of marijuana. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Additionally, Resident Magistrate Yogesh Prasad has allowed lead defense lawyer Iqbal Khan time to travel to Australia for scheduled eye surgery. Counsel Samuela Heritage, representing Punja in the hearing, requested that the case be postponed to later this year to accommodate Khan’s surgery, and the court consented.

Furthermore, the police prosecution has completed and provided full disclosures to the defense, as confirmed by Heritage.
