The Magistrates Court in Suva has decided to extend the bail for Thakor Punja, who faces charges of unlawfully possessing illicit drugs. The court has scheduled a Pre-Trial Conference for February 19, 2025.

Punja is accused of having 0.84 grams of methamphetamine, 5.447 grams of cocaine, and 6.6 grams of marijuana in his possession. He has pleaded not guilty to these charges.

Additionally, Resident Magistrate Yogesh Prasad has granted time for defense lawyer Iqbal Khan to travel to Australia for an eye surgery. Counsel Samuela Heritage, representing Punja, requested that the court schedule the matter to a later date this year to accommodate Khan’s travel plans, which the court approved.

The police prosecution has also provided full disclosures to the defense, as confirmed by counsel Heritage.
