The Magistrates Court in Suva has approved an extension of bail for Thakor Punja, who faces three charges of unlawful possession of illegal drugs. A Pre-Trial Conference has been scheduled for February 19, 2025.

Allegations state that Punja was found with 0.84 grams of methamphetamine, 5.447 grams of cocaine, and 6.6 grams of marijuana. He has entered a plea of not guilty to these charges.

Additionally, Resident Magistrate Yogesh Prasad has allowed lead defense attorney Iqbal Khan time to travel to Australia for a planned eye surgery. During the hearing, counsel Samuela Heritage represented Punja and requested that the case be postponed to later this year to accommodate Khan’s surgery, which the court granted.

The police prosecution provided full disclosures to the defense, which was confirmed by Heritage.
