The Magistrates Court in Suva has granted an extension of bail for Thakor Punja, who faces three charges of unlawful possession of illicit drugs. A Pre-Trial Conference has been scheduled for February 19, 2025.

Punja is accused of being in possession of 0.84 grams of methamphetamine, 5.447 grams of cocaine, and 6.6 grams of marijuana. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Additionally, Resident Magistrate Yogesh Prasad has allowed lead defense attorney Iqbal Khan to travel to Australia for a scheduled eye surgery. Counsel Samuela Heritage appeared on Punja’s behalf and requested that the case be postponed until later this year to accommodate Khan’s surgery. The Court approved this request.

The Police Prosecution has also provided full disclosures to the defense, which was confirmed by Heritage.
