As many as 300 students in Vanua Levu are expected to return to newly built classrooms by the end of 2025, according to Assistant Education Minister Iliesa Vanawalu. He confirmed that funds are allocated in the budget for the reconstruction of three schools impacted by cyclones.

Mr. Vanawalu mentioned that they are finalizing the remaining work for this year and 2025. In a recent interview, he revealed that a feasibility study for the three schools has already been completed.

“The ministry’s primary focus is to ensure these schools provide an adequate and safe learning environment,” he stated. Although he could not provide a specific timeline for the project’s completion, he expressed optimism that all students would be back in their classrooms by the end of next year.
