Ba Rugby’s Bright Future: Koronubu Sanatan Shines in Youth Tournament

Pastor Gaby Kautoga, who serves as the secretary for the Ba Rugby Union, is deeply engaged in grassroots rugby initiatives, particularly at the primary school level, drawing on his background as an educator. This season, he dedicated additional time to Koronubu Sanatan Primary School, collaborating with head coach Krishneel Kumar to prepare students of diverse ethnicities for the Ba West kids rugby tournament.

“Their results were remarkable,” Kautoga noted. The school’s teams achieved significant victories, winning the under 14 Indo boys category, the U14 mixed girls, and the U14 mixed boys tournaments. Furthermore, their U10 girls team secured the runner-up position in their division.

“This demonstrates the promising future of Ba Rugby,” Kautoga emphasized. He highlighted the province’s rich rugby heritage, noting that it was the first site in Fiji to host rugby in 1884, home to the oldest rugby ground at Rarawai Mill, and recognized for Bukuya, which boasts the highest rugby field in the country.

Kautoga praised the community’s integration, expressing pride in the terms “inclusivity” and “education,” and expressed delight in the achievements of Koronubu Sanatan and their outstanding success.
