The Ba Rugby Union successfully wrapped up its level two coaching course in Ba yesterday, with participation from 11 representatives, including eight coaches and three women from various tikina. The course’s objective is to elevate coaching standards across all tikina, with plans to ensure that every coach obtains level two certification by next year.
Pastor Gabby Kautoga, the secretary of the Ba Rugby Union, emphasized the significance of the initiative. He noted, “This is part of our club pathway toward the tikina’s progression to the provincial level. The course acts as a stepping stone for coaches to advance in the rugby development structure and prepare their teams for higher levels of competition.”
The Tiliva/Bukuya girls’ teams volunteered to help with practical assessments during the course, allowing coaches to be monitored and evaluated. Kautoga mentioned that the coaches would continue to be assessed, with certificates expected to be awarded by December.
“We hope to recognize them at our awards night in December,” he added. This initiative underscores the Ba Rugby Union’s dedication to fostering a strong coaching foundation to enhance the region’s rugby talent.
