The Ba Rugby Union has successfully completed its level two coaching course in Ba, with 11 participants, including eight coaches from various tikina and three women. The purpose of the course is to enhance coaching standards across all tikina, with an initiative to ensure that each tikina coach obtains a level two certification by next year.
Pastor Gabby Kautoga, the secretary of the Ba Rugby Union, emphasized the significance of this initiative. “This is part of our club pathway towards the tikina right to the provincial level. The course serves as a stepping stone for coaches to progress within the rugby development structure and prepare their teams for higher levels of competition,” Kautoga stated.
The Tiliva/Bukuya girls’ teams volunteered to help with the practical assessments during the course, allowing for the coaches to be monitored and evaluated. Kautoga mentioned that the coaches would continue to be assessed, and they are expected to receive their certificates by December.
“We hope to recognize them during our awards night in December,” he added. This initiative showcases the Ba Rugby Union’s dedication to establishing a robust coaching foundation to foster the region’s burgeoning rugby talent.
