Australia’s New Visa Program: Bringing Families Together for Workers

Australia has launched a pilot program for a family accompaniment visa, enabling participants in the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme to bring their families with them. Maretino Nemani, the Permanent Secretary for the Employment Ministry, announced that 82 families from Fiji will be involved in this initiative.

Mr. Nemani explained that the family accompaniment visa allows approved workers to bring their spouses or partners and children to Australia, addressing the challenges of family separation. He stated that this development is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the partnership between Fiji and Australia.

The pilot program is set to include a debriefing session to help the participating families prepare for their transition.
