Attorney-General’s Surprising Shift: Call for Integrity over Interests

Attorney-General Graham Leung has revised his position regarding Acting Director of Public Prosecutions John Rabuku in light of a Supreme Court opinion.

Initially, Leung had stated that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) is appointed by the President based on the independent advice of the Judicial Services Commission (JSC) and emphasized that he would respect the JSC’s process.

However, in a surprising turn of events, Leung posted a statement on Facebook last night urging Rabuku to “do the honourable thing and step aside,” highlighting that the office’s integrity is more important than individual interests.
