Attorney-General Graham Leung has reversed his position regarding Acting Director of Public Prosecutions John Rabuku following a Supreme Court opinion.
Initially, Mr Leung endorsed that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) is appointed by the President based on the independent advice of the Judicial Services Commission (JSC), and he expressed his intent to respect the JSC’s process.
However, in an unexpected Facebook statement last night, the A-G urged Mr Rabuku to “do the honourable thing and step aside,” highlighting that the integrity of the office is more important than individual interests.
