Attorney-General Graham Leung has changed his position on Acting Director of Public Prosecutions John Rabuku following a Supreme Court opinion.
Initially, Mr. Leung asserted that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) is appointed by the President based on the independent advice of the Judicial Services Commission (JSC) and that he would respect the JSC’s process.
However, in a surprising Facebook statement last night, the Attorney-General called for Mr. Rabuku to “do the honourable thing and step aside,” stressing that the office’s integrity is more important than individual interests.
