Last night, an attempt was made to steal money from an ATM belonging to Bred Bank located on the Nadi back-road. Individuals involved in the incident vandalized the ATM’s display screen and succeeded in pulling the machine out of its place.
A local businessman, who asked to remain anonymous, expressed concern about the growing criminal activity in the area, particularly near the temple. He noted that while there have been minor break-ins and thefts, this marks the first instance of an ATM being targeted for robbery.
Additionally, a nearby shop suffered damage, with a large stone reportedly used to attempt breaking its front glass. The businessman emphasized the need for increased police presence in the neighborhood, especially during nighttime hours, to deter such criminal behavior.
This incident highlights the ongoing challenge of crime in some communities, but it also presents an opportunity for local authorities to address these safety concerns through enhanced security measures and community engagement.
With proactive policing and community vigilance, there is hope for a safer environment that can deter future crimes, fostering a sense of security for local residents and business owners alike.
