The Coalition Government’s decision to assist families of workers who have been on strike since 1991 at the Vatukoula Gold Mine has been described as happening in God’s time.

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka shared this sentiment when he met with hundreds of family members in Ba today.

He mentioned that the issue was discussed with the National Federation Party and SODELPA, and they collectively agreed to support the affected families.

Rabuka noted that the strike began in 1991 during his tenure as Prime Minister and he believes that God has given him the opportunity to revisit the situation to aid the families.

Minister for Employment Agni Deo Singh also attended the meeting.
