The Coalition Government’s decision to support the families of workers who have been on strike since 1991 at the Vatukoula Gold Mine was described as occurring in God’s time by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka.
Rabuka shared this sentiment during a meeting with hundreds of family members who gathered in Ba today. He explained that the issue had been discussed with the National Federation Party and SODELPA, who all agreed to assist the affected families.
Rabuka noted that the strike began in 1991 during his previous term as Prime Minister and believes it is a divine opportunity for him to address the situation and help the families now. The meeting was also attended by Minister for Employment Agni Deo Singh.
