Asma Fareha Khan, who has successfully operated her online business for the past two years, has decided to expand into a retail store to cater to customer demand. She has opened the Asma Fashion Closet showroom, strategically located on the main street of Nadi Town.
Originally hailing from Punjab, India, Ms. Khan has a deep understanding of fashion, including product ranges and their quality. She is married to Manuawar Khan, a well-regarded information technology expert based in Nadi.
“It has been our dream to venture into this business,” she expressed. “The modern setup of our store provides a cozy and comfortable shopping environment. We want our customers to feel like they are stepping into a closet.”
The showroom imports distinctive and fashionable items including women’s clothing, footwear, jewelry, luxury clutches, handbags, hijabs, and various accessories.
Mr. Khan sees great potential for retail in Fiji, particularly for the latest Indian ethnic and Indo-western clothing and accessories. “While the market is highly competitive in Fiji, we are committed to introducing quality and unique products that are not widely available here,” he stated.
At present, Fiji lacks a local manufacturing facility; however, some products are customized to ensure they stand out. The couple has invested around $60,000 to establish and stock their showroom and currently employs two staff members. They also have plans to expand their business further by opening additional showrooms in the western division.
