After running her successful online business for the past two years, Asma Fareha Khan has decided to invest in a retail store to fulfill client demand. She is the founder of the Asma Fashion Closet showroom, situated on the main street of Nadi Town.
Originally from Punjab, India, Ms. Khan possesses extensive knowledge of fashion, product ranges, and quality standards. She is married to Manuawar Khan, a well-established information technology professional from Nadi.
“It has been our dream to venture into this business,” she stated. “The modern design of our store provides customers with a cozy and comfortable shopping environment. The concept of the shop is to create a closet-like feel for the customer.”
She mentioned that they import a range of unique and stylish women’s fashion items, including clothing, footwear, jewelry, luxury clutches, handbags, hijabs, and accessories.
Mr. Khan believes that Fiji has a significant potential for retail sales in the latest Indian ethnic and Indo-western clothing and accessories. “The market is highly competitive in Fiji, but our goal is always to introduce quality and unique items that are not commonly available,” he explained.
At present, there are no manufacturing facilities in Fiji, although some of their products are customized to enhance their uniqueness in the market. “We have invested nearly $60,000 in setting up and stocking our showroom, and so far we employ two staff members,” he added, mentioning plans to expand the business by opening additional showrooms in the western division.
