Arrests Made in Fiji for Illegal Drug Possession – Methamphetamine Seized

Two men were taken into custody in Nabua yesterday after being allegedly found in possession of illicit drugs. According to Assistant Commissioner of Police – Operations Livai Driu, a concerned citizen called the Samabula Police Station early in the morning to report the two individuals. A police officer, accompanied by the informant, went to Mead Road where backup was called. With the assistance of two other officers, the men, both in their 20s, were arrested and taken into custody.

Substances believed to be methamphetamine were seized and sent for analysis. ACP Driu commended the individual for providing the information, highlighting that each seizure and arrest contributes to reducing the supply and harm of illicit drugs.

In other drug-related operations, the Cakau Operations team uprooted plants assumed to be marijuana from the Tacilevu area. Investigations are ongoing to determine the owner of the farm.

In separate incidents from the Northern Division, two men in their 20s were arrested in Labasa Town for unlawful possession of marijuana. In the Western Division, additional arrests were made in Ba, Sigatoka, Lautoka, Nadi, and Namaka for similar offenses. Cash believed to be proceeds from criminal activities was also seized.

ACP Driu emphasized the importance of community support in successful police operations, noting that increased awareness and community involvement are helping to combat the illicit drug trade through information sharing.
