ANZ Pacific has announced its decision to relocate the Pacific Reconciliations function from Suva to its Group Reconciliations Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru, effective May 2025. Despite the transition, Rabih Yazbek, Country Head of Fiji for ANZ Bank, assured that the 17 staff members currently involved in Pacific Reconciliations will retain their jobs, as they will be offered alternative roles within ANZ Pacific Operations and ANZ Fiji.
Mr. Yazbek emphasized that ANZ’s goal in the Pacific region is to streamline operations and minimize non-financial risks. He noted that the decision comes after a thorough evaluation aimed at simplifying, standardizing, and centralizing business processes where applicable. By moving the reconciliations function to Bengaluru, ANZ aims to align with other divisions that have adopted a centralized reconciliation method, thereby leveraging advanced technology and streamlined processes for improved accuracy and operational efficiency.
He acknowledged that the transition may pose challenges for the affected team members, but ANZ is committed to providing support throughout this period of change. Mr. Yazbek reassured that the transition would not disrupt customer services and mentioned that, alongside the relocation, ANZ plans to introduce additional functions in the Pacific Operations, such as Know Your Customer (KYC) initiatives, Retail Non-Individual Account Opening, and securities management.
