ANZ Fiji faced a significant payment system outage starting from Monday, December 30, 2024. Customers have expressed frustration after being left without communication regarding the issue, as the bank did not provide a public notification. Only those who reached out to the Helpline to ask about the status were informed about the difficulties.
Rabih Yazbek, the country head for ANZ Fiji, stated that their technology teams have been diligently addressing the complex technical challenges caused by the outage. He acknowledged that the situation was further complicated by the public holiday period, which posed additional operational hurdles.
In his statement, Mr. Yazbek apologized for the inconvenience caused to customers and confirmed that their team worked tirelessly to resolve the disruption. He mentioned that a fix was successfully implemented early this morning, and customers should now be able to process payments normally.
Customers who may continue to face issues or suspect they have incurred additional fees due to the outage are encouraged to reach out to ANZ Fiji at 132 411 for assistance. With approximately 200,000 Fijians banking with ANZ, the bank is committed to restoring confidence and ensuring a smooth experience moving forward.
It’s important in situations like this for banks to communicate clearly and promptly with their customers, and it seems ANZ Fiji is recognizing the need for improvement. As services return to normal, customers can feel hopeful about the bank’s commitment to their needs and the resolution of technical issues.
