ANZ Fiji faced a significant outage in its payment system beginning on Monday, December 30, 2024, leaving many customers frustrated over the past three days. The bank did not communicate the issue publicly, with only those who reached out to the Helpline receiving information about the situation.

Rabih Yazbek, the country head for ANZ Fiji, explained that the bank’s technology teams have been actively working to resolve this complex technical problem. Unfortunately, the resolution process has been hampered by the challenges that come with operating during the public holiday period.

“We understand the impact this has had on our customers, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused,” Yazbek stated. Fortunately, he also reported that a fix has been successfully implemented, and as of today, payments should resume as normal.

Customers who continue to face issues or believe they have incurred additional bank fees due to the outage are encouraged to contact ANZ Fiji at 132 411. This situation has affected at least 200,000 Fijians who use ANZ’s banking services.

In summary, while the payment system outage had a significant impact on customers, ANZ Fiji has now addressed the issue and is working to ensure that any remaining customer concerns are promptly addressed. The bank’s ongoing commitment to resolving the challenges faced during this period demonstrates its dedication to its customers, which is ultimately a positive sign for the future of customer service in the banking sector.
