ANZ Fiji encountered a significant payment system outage starting Monday, December 30, 2024, leaving customers frustrated as there was no prior public notification about the issue. The lack of communication meant that clients could only find out about the downtime by contacting the bank’s Helpline.

Rabih Yazbek, the country head for ANZ Fiji, emphasized that their technology teams have been actively working to fix the intricate technical problems. He acknowledged that the public holiday period complicated their operations, making it harder to resolve the issues promptly.

Mr. Yazbek expressed regret for any inconvenience caused to customers, stating, “We understand the impact this has had on our customers, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.” He reassured clients that a solution was implemented early this morning, and normal payment processing has resumed.

Customers who still experience problems or believe they incurred extra bank fees or charges due to this outage are encouraged to reach out to ANZ Fiji at 132 411.

With at least 200,000 Fijians relying on ANZ Fiji for their banking needs, the bank’s prompt action to resolve this issue reflects their commitment to customer service and the need for responsive communication during technical difficulties.

It’s a hopeful sign that ANZ Fiji is working diligently to resolve these challenges, and customers can expect smoother operations moving forward. Communication improvements may also emerge from this experience, enhancing customer trust in the long run.
