ANZ Fiji has faced significant challenges due to a payment system outage that started on Monday, December 30, 2024. For three days, many customers were left uninformed about the situation, as the bank did not issue a public notification regarding the disruption. Only those who reached out to the bank’s helpline received information.
Rabih Yazbek, the country head for ANZ Fiji, explained that the bank’s technology teams have been working to address this intricate technical problem. He acknowledged that the public holiday period has added to the complexity of resolving the issue.
Yazbek expressed understanding of the frustration customers may have experienced and extended sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused. He reported that a solution was implemented early this morning, allowing payments to resume processing as normal.
Customers who continue to face any difficulties or believe they have incurred additional fees due to the outage are encouraged to contact ANZ Fiji at 132 411. Notably, approximately 200,000 Fijians rely on ANZ Fiji for their banking services.
This incident highlights the importance of effective communication during service disruptions. Moving forward, increased transparency and timely notifications could help mitigate customer frustration in similar situations. It’s encouraging to see that ANZ Fiji is actively working to resolve its issues and prioritizing customer support.
