ANZ Fiji faced a significant disruption in its payment systems starting on Monday, December 30, 2024. For three consecutive days, customers expressed frustration as the bank did not issue any public announcements concerning the outage. Clients only learned about the issue when they reached out to the Helpline for assistance.

Rabih Yazbek, the country head for ANZ Fiji, stated that their technology teams have been working to rectify the complex technical problems causing the outage. The situation was compounded by the challenges of operating during the public holiday period.

Mr. Yazbek extended apologies for the inconvenience caused to customers, saying, “We understand the impact this has had on our customers, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.” He also reassured that a solution was implemented early this morning, and normal payment processing is expected to resume from today.

Customers who continue to experience issues or believe they have incurred additional fees due to the outage are encouraged to contact the bank at 132 411. Notably, ANZ Fiji serves approximately 200,000 clients across the nation.

In summary, while the payment system outage caused considerable disruption and frustration, the bank has resolved the issue and is actively seeking to assist affected customers. This active communication and the swift resolution of the problem reflect a commitment to customer service, which can foster trust and loyalty among the bank’s clientele.

It’s hopeful to see that the bank has successfully addressed the issue and is prepared to support its customers moving forward.
