ANZ Fiji faced a significant payment system outage beginning Monday, December 30, 2024, which lasted for three days. During this time, many customers expressed frustration as the bank did not provide public notification about the disruption. Only those who called the helpline were informed about the ongoing issues.

Rabih Yazbek, the country head for ANZ Fiji, stated that their technology teams have been actively working to resolve a complex technical problem. He acknowledged that the public holiday period added to the challenges they faced in addressing the outage.

Mr. Yazbek apologized for the inconvenience caused to customers, emphasizing that their team had been working diligently to restore services. He confirmed that a solution was implemented early this morning, allowing normal payment processing to resume.

Customers who continue to encounter problems or believe they have incurred extra fees due to the outage are encouraged to reach out to the bank at 132 411 for assistance. ANZ Fiji serves approximately 200,000 customers, highlighting the importance of efficient communication and response during service disruptions.

This situation serves as a reminder of the critical nature of timely information sharing from banks, especially during service outages. Moving forward, it is hopeful that ANZ Fiji will enhance its communication strategies to better inform customers in similar situations, ensuring transparency and customer trust.
