“An Australian Couple’s Heartfelt Return to Their Fijian Roots”

An Australian couple, Owen Twist and his wife Christine, are delighted to be back in Fiji, where they formerly resided in the early 1970s while serving the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Suva. They were among over 2,000 passengers on a P&O Cruises Australia ship that docked in Lautoka on Monday.

Mr. Twist expressed the joy of returning, hoping to reconnect with local friends they had reached out to via social media. He shared, “We came for two years, but I liked the people so much that I stayed for nine. Then I had to go home, but Fiji has always held a special place in our hearts.”

The couple’s daughters, both nurses, spent part of their childhood in Fiji, enhancing the family’s strong connections to the island nation during this visit. They highlighted their gratitude for the lasting relationships formed during their time in Fiji.

During their stay, the couple also purchased Fijian handicrafts from woodcarver Jone Sito as souvenirs. Following its stop in Lautoka, the cruise ship is set to continue its journey to Taveuni before heading back to Sydney.
