Amit Kumar from Taveuni weighed in at 76.3 kg for today’s South Pacific Boxing Promotion (SPBP) event at Nair Dias. He expressed his determination to perform his best during the fight. His opponent, Mikaele Marisi from Lautoka Happy Gloves boxing club, weighed 75.2 kg.

Kumar, returning to the ring after 20 years since his last fight in 2004, feels well-prepared for the 4×3 event. “I have been training for a month, and my body feels great; I will give it my all,” he stated.

Mohammed Shameem, director of South Pacific Boxing Promotion, highlighted the opportunity for local boxers to showcase their skills. “We have organized three IBO sanctioned fights, which is unprecedented in Fiji. We are committed to supporting local talent,” he said. He also mentioned plans for a larger event in May next year if today’s fights go smoothly.

Additional bouts on the card include Jnr Abhay Chand facing Vitori Cabalevu in a 6×3 match. Other 4×3 contests feature Apisai Naciqa against Marika Kavika and Manoa Tuiyaro taking on Ezra Volavola, while Amo Wati will compete against Maureen Neumia in the sole 4×2 female bout.
