Amazons Aim for Glory: Upcoming Challenges in New Zealand!

The Lilian Amazons, backed by Blue Gas, are set to head to Napier, New Zealand, for the Duavata Sevens tournament on Saturday. This trip comes before their debut at the Malake Sevens tournament on October 26.

The team is on a remarkable winning streak, having clinched the Fullsend Sevens tournament in Whanganui over the weekend, where they triumphed over Fullsend with a score of 22-17 in the Cup final.

Amazon manager Mere Gaunavou highlighted that this victory represents another significant achievement for the young squad. She noted, “Last year, the team won the prestigious Darwin Hottest 7s tournament, and we have consistently performed well in local competitions.”

Just a couple of weeks ago, the Amazons also secured victory at the Brimstone Sevens, overcoming the champion Seahawks, a team that boasts several current and former Fijiana representatives.

Gaunavou expressed her gratitude to the team’s primary sponsor, Blue Gas, their associate sponsor Flame Tree, and the supporters and families of the players. She remarked, “The team’s success is rooted in its strong culture and rigorous training programs. Most of these girls are new to rugby, so it takes immense sacrifice and proper training to compete and win, despite their young training age.”
