Motorists experienced significant delays at Nadi International Airport yesterday due to a vehicle fire caused by a collision. Police spokesperson Constable Wame Batutolu reported that the incident occurred at 10:30 AM when a vehicle en route to Lautoka collided with another vehicle at a roundabout near the airport.
The driver, a 61-year-old man, failed to yield to the other vehicle, which was turning onto the roundabout after returning from Sabeto. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the accident.
Additionally, it was noted that the traffic lights in the area have been malfunctioning for some time, with traffic being directed using cones. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
