She expressed gratitude for her supportive family, which includes her husband, who works as a mechanic, and her eldest son, a flight attendant who is assisting with her examination costs.

Facing obstacles such as financial difficulties and the responsibilities of caring for her youngest child, Ms. Korovulavula joined the Matua programme last year, succeeding in Year 12 and aiming to complete Year 13. She believes that her determination, along with her skills in English and computer literacy, will pave the way for future job opportunities.

Hailing from Nabudrau Village in Rewa, Ms. Korovulavula and her family relocated to Suva in Tamavua for better job prospects after COVID-19. She hopes to study human resources and finance at the university level, illustrating her commitment to lifelong learning.

Her inspiring story is a testament to the power of resilience and determination. As she advises others who may have dropped out of school, she emphasizes the importance of seizing opportunities like the Matua programme, which boasts dedicated teachers committed to their students’ success.

In a broader context, Ms. Korovulavula’s journey highlights the importance of education at any age and the transformative impact it can have on families and communities. Her story encourages us all to support and pursue our educational goals, no matter the challenges we might face.
