Against All Odds: A Graduate’s Inspiring Journey to Success

After six years of dedicated studies, Avisaki Buirokotuiloma has successfully completed her Bachelor of Education program at the University of the South Pacific. Having been supported financially by her parents, she also took on part-time work to fund her education.

Walking across the stage at her graduation on Friday was a dream come true for Buirokotuiloma. She shared that securing enough financial resources to cover her tuition was a major challenge throughout her journey. “There were moments when I considered giving up, but my parents’ unwavering support and encouragement kept me going,” Buirokotuiloma stated. “I’m immensely thankful for the numerous prayers from my family and relatives; I couldn’t have achieved this without their backing.”

Buirokotuiloma juggled her part-time jobs at home while pursuing her degree, proving her commitment despite the difficulties she encountered. She acknowledged that balancing her studies and home responsibilities was a considerable challenge, but the right information and support systems made all the difference.

Hailing from Navuniyasi in Naitasiri, Buirokotuiloma is now on the path to realizing her dream of becoming a teacher. Having always pictured herself in a classroom, she feels that vision is finally coming to fruition. “With this degree, I will be able to secure stable employment and contribute to my family,” she expressed. “It’s never too late, and I am thrilled to have accomplished this.”
