AG Pushes for Establishment of Vital Commission.

Attorney General Graham Leung has emphasized that the Accountability and Transparency Commission will ensure that public officials are held responsible, promoting fairer treatment of the people.

In his first speech in Parliament this week, Leung expressed his strong belief that establishing the commission is both crucial and overdue. He stated his commitment to taking all necessary legislative measures to set up the commission.

“This will further enhance good governance, reduce corruption, and build trust among our citizens,” said Leung. “The commission will increase government accountability, ensuring public officials are held responsible and promoting fairer treatment of people. When transparency in decision-making and fund allocation and expenditure is evident, it will strengthen public confidence in the government and our democratic institutions.”

Leung highlighted that the commission will be a significant step towards good governance, aligning with Fiji’s National Development Plan and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
