The Sugar Cane Growers Fund (SCGF) has launched a Loyalty Program that will provide affordable healthcare services to sugarcane farmers in Fiji. The initiative was introduced by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Professor Biman Prasad during the grand opening of the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) chamber at the Pacific Specialist Healthcare (PSH) Hospital in Nadi.

Professor Prasad emphasized that this program reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to support the country’s sugar farming community, highlighting the importance of affordable healthcare access, especially for those living in rural areas. He stated, “This partnership with PSH ensures that farmers have access to affordable healthcare and demonstrates our government’s commitment to improving health services.”

The SCGF Loyalty Program, aimed at over 10,500 active sugarcane growers, not only provides discounted healthcare services but also illustrates the government’s broader strategy to modernize Fiji’s healthcare infrastructure. This effort includes the establishment of a 100-bed super-specialty hospital funded by the Indian Government and enhancements to existing hospitals, including the Colonial War Memorial Hospital in Suva.

Parvish Kumar, the founder and CEO of PSH, noted the program’s significance in promoting healthcare accessibility and affordability for farmers. The initiative is intended to uplift the overall well-being of sugarcane growers while acknowledging their vital contribution to Fiji’s economy.

The collaboration between PSH and SCGF exemplifies a proactive approach to improving healthcare access for agricultural workers, ensuring they receive timely medical care. By addressing the particular needs of farmers through this program, the government and health providers can enhance the quality of life for these vital contributors to Fiji’s agricultural sector.

This initiative not only aims to foster better health outcomes for sugarcane farmers but also reinforces the importance of this sector in sustaining the nation’s economy. It paints a hopeful picture for the community, underscoring the value of partnerships between governmental and healthcare institutions in achieving sustainable development and improved living standards for farmers across Fiji.

In summary, the incorporation of healthcare options through the SCGF Loyalty Program fosters optimism for the future, as it demonstrates a strong commitment to both health and economic sustainability in Fiji’s agricultural landscape.
