Dedication and hard work have undoubtedly paid off for Aanvi Prasad, who has emerged as one of the top achievers in the 2024 Fiji Eighth Year Examination. The Year 8 student from Lautoka Central Primary School attained an impressive score of 491 marks out of a possible 500. Reflecting on her success, Aanvi expressed that her commitment, sacrifices, and diligence throughout the year have greatly contributed to her accomplishment.
“It was my dream to be the highest scorer, and I sacrificed for it,” she stated. She meticulously planned her studies by setting timetables and remained focused on her academic goals, often sharing her aspirations with her parents. “With the sacrifices that I made throughout the year, I always told my parents that I wanted to be a high scorer and to get first place in all my exams. I am happy that I achieved it,” she said proudly.
As the head girl, she faced challenges from her peers, who sometimes doubted the possibility of attaining the highest marks in their final exams. “They always said it was impossible to achieve the highest mark, and at times I felt disheartened. However, I am grateful to my parents and teachers for their support and encouragement, reminding me that anything is possible,” she reflected.
Her father, Ronil Prasad, expressed immense pride in his daughter’s achievements. “I am a proud dad. It was a great investment in her education, and we have seen the fruits of that investment. Experiencing this success from our child as parents is truly a special feeling,” he shared.
Looking ahead, Aanvi plans to enroll at Natabua High School next year, setting her sights on further academic success. Notably, Viola Ravutubananitu from Tagitagi Sangam School in Ba also matched her score of 491 marks, showcasing the remarkable talent present among Fiji’s youth.
This story highlights the power of hard work, determination, and supportive families in achieving academic excellence. Aanvi’s journey serves as an inspiring example that with dedication and the right support, students can reach their goals, proving that dreams can indeed become a reality.
