Maria Sauvou expresses her deep gratitude towards the Sai Prema Foundation hospital, which has been crucial in her daughter’s recovery from Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD). Her 16-year-old daughter, Ulamila Naivalu, was diagnosed with the condition when she was just one year old.
“It has been 15 long and difficult years for us. I am so grateful that on Thursday she (Ulamila) had a successful operation,” Ms. Sauvou shared. She described the relief she felt, saying, “It was like a heavy burden was off-loaded from my back. My daughter can live freely now. No more worries, no more sleepless nights, no more pain, no more injections.”
Despite the challenges, Ms. Sauvou ensured that her daughter was surrounded by a positive environment and remained encouraging during tough times. She recalled moments when Ulamila showed signs of heart complications, prompting her to rush her for necessary treatments. “It was really a hard time for us, especially for her. But with the support of our family and never-ending prayers, Ulamila continued to hang on despite the struggles.”
After exploring various options, surgery at Sai Prema Children Hospital became their only hope. “When I first learned that she had RHD, I thought the world had failed me. I was heavy-hearted and emotional, knowing that she (Ulamila) was still young. I lost all hope until Sai Prema Children Hospital came into the picture,” remarked Ms. Sauvou.
She expressed her appreciation for the hospital, stating, “I’m humbly grateful that there are places like this, specifically dedicated to helping children with this disease. Like many parents, we feel blessed by this foundation; it’s truly a miracle.”
Ms. Sauvou encourages other parents not to hesitate in seeking check-ups for their children. “We are not well off, but God answers prayers. He directed us to the Sai Prema Foundation hospital. The staff and medical team are incredibly helpful and made Ulamila feel at home. It is definitely a comforting setting.”
