Maria Sauvou expresses her deep gratitude to the Sai Prema Foundation hospital, crediting it with saving her daughter from the struggles of Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD). Her 16-year-old daughter, Ulamila Naivalu, has battled RHD since she was just one year old.
“It has been a long and difficult journey for us over the past 15 years. I am incredibly thankful that Ulamila had a successful surgery on Thursday,” Ms. Sauvou stated. “It felt like a heavy burden was lifted from my shoulders, and now my daughter can live freely.”
She shared her relief, saying, “There are no more worries, sleepless nights, pain, or injections.” Despite the challenges, Ms. Sauvou maintained a positive environment for Ulamila, offering encouragement during tough times.
“There were moments when Ulamila showed signs of her heart weakening, and I had to rush her to the hospital for her injections. It was an incredibly tough time for both of us,” she recalled. “However, with family support and constant prayers, Ulamila persevered.”
For many years, Ms. Sauvou sought options, realizing that surgery was their only hope. Ulamila ultimately received care at the Sai Prema Children Hospital.
Upon learning about her daughter’s diagnosis, she felt devastated. “I thought the world had failed me. I was heavy-hearted, overwhelmed by emotion knowing she was still so young. I lost hope until the Sai Prema Children Hospital came into our lives,” she reflected.
Ms. Sauvou expressed her appreciation for facilities like Sai Prema that dedicate themselves to helping children with RHD. “Like many parents, we feel blessed by this foundation; it truly feels like a miracle,” she added.
She urges other parents not to hesitate in taking their children for check-ups. “We aren’t wealthy, but God answers prayers. He led us to the Sai Prema Foundation hospital.”
She commended the staff and medical team for their compassionate care, stating, “They made Ulamila feel at home. It is certainly a comforting environment.”
