Maria Sauvou expresses immense gratitude to the Sai Prema Foundation hospital, crediting them for her daughter’s recovery from Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD). Her 16-year-old daughter, Ulamila Naivalu, was diagnosed with RHD at just one year old.

“It has been a long and challenging 15 years,” Ms. Sauvou remarked, relieved that Ulamila had a successful operation on Thursday. “I felt as if a heavy burden had been lifted. My daughter can now live freely.”

She noted the end of her worries, sleepless nights, pain, and regular injections that once plagued their lives. Throughout the years, Ms. Sauvou maintained a supportive environment for Ulamila, using positive reinforcement to help her through tough times.

“There were moments when Ulamila’s heart would weaken, and I would rush her for injections. Those times were incredibly tough, especially for her,” she recalled. With the support from family and persistent prayers, Ulamila persevered.

For years, Ms. Sauvou sought options, realizing that surgery was their best hope when her daughter arrived at the Sai Prema Children Hospital. “When I first found out about her RHD, I felt a profound sense of despair. I was heartbroken, especially knowing how young she was. My hope dwindled until the Sai Prema Children Hospital stepped in,” she shared.

Ms. Sauvou is grateful for the existence of such facilities dedicated to treating children with RHD. “Like many parents, we feel blessed by this foundation; it truly is a miracle.”

She urges other parents to prioritize health check-ups for their children. “We are not wealthy, but I believe God answers prayers, leading us to the Sai Prema Foundation hospital. The staff and medical team were incredibly supportive, making Ulamila feel at home. It has been a comforting environment.”
