Maria Sauvou expresses deep gratitude towards the Sai Prema Foundation hospital, crediting them with transforming her daughter’s life as she battles Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD). Ulamila Naivalu, 16, was diagnosed with RHD at just one year old.

“After 15 long and challenging years, I am thankful that on Thursday, Ulamila underwent a successful surgery,” Ms. Sauvou shared. “It felt like a heavy burden had been lifted. My daughter can now live freely.”

She reflected on the sleepless nights and constant worries that accompanied her daughter’s condition, stating, “No more worries, no more pain, no more injections.” Despite the challenges, Ms. Sauvou has always aimed to create a supportive atmosphere for her daughter and provided encouragement during tough times.

“There were moments when Ulamila’s heart would weaken, and I would rush her to the hospital. Those times were incredibly tough for both of us,” she recalled. “With the support of our family and persistent prayers, Ulamila held on through the difficulties.”

For years, Ms. Sauvou searched for alternatives, with surgery being their only hope. Ulamila eventually received treatment at the Sai Prema Children Hospital. “When I found out she had RHD, I felt like my world was shattered,” she admitted. “I was devastated, especially knowing how young she was and I lost all hope until the Sai Prema Children Hospital came into the picture.”

She praised the hospital’s dedication to treating children with RHD, stating, “I’m incredibly thankful that there are places like this,” calling it a miracle.

Ms. Sauvou encourages parents not to hesitate to take their children for medical check-ups. “We are not financially well-off. God answers prayers, and He led us to the Sai Prema Foundation hospital,” she said. “The staff and medical team were incredibly supportive and made Ulamila feel at home. It truly is a comforting environment.”
