Maria Sauvou expresses immense gratitude towards the Sai Prema Foundation Hospital, which played a crucial role in treating her daughter, Ulamila Naivalu, who has battled Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD) since the age of one.
Now 16, Ulamila successfully underwent surgery on Thursday, marking a significant milestone after 15 challenging years. “It felt like a heavy burden was lifted from my shoulders. My daughter can now live freely,” Ms. Sauvou shared, relieved that the days of worries, sleepless nights, pain, and regular injections are over.
Throughout the years, Ms. Sauvou created a supportive environment for Ulamila, consistently offering encouragement during difficult moments. Despite Ulamila showing signs of a weakening heart on several occasions, her mother’s quick actions to seek medical help proved essential.
For years, Ms. Sauvou explored various options, ultimately finding hope in surgery. She recounts the daunting moment of her daughter’s RHD diagnosis, feeling as if the world had let them down. However, the Sai Prema Children Hospital emerged as a beacon of hope during this dark time.
“I am truly grateful for places like this that focus on treating children with RHD. Like many parents, we are blessed by this foundation; it feels like a miracle,” she emphasized.
Ms. Sauvou encourages other parents not to hesitate in seeking medical check-ups for their children. Despite their financial struggles, she believes that God guided them to the Sai Prema Foundation Hospital, where the staff and medical team made Ulamila feel comfortable and cared for, fostering a nurturing atmosphere for her recovery.
