The health facility in Namuka has been awaiting the arrival of a new boat for at least two months, as reported by Minister for Health Dr. Atonio Lalabalavu. He noted that the villagers had been waiting for the boat for 25 years, so an additional two-month wait was not significant.
Dr. Lalabalavu expressed his desire to personally present the boat to the health facility, and mentioned that he informed the nurse weeks prior to the handover that the boat was ready. “She was so happy when we relayed the news to her,” he said. The boat is expected to benefit villagers in Tawake and other nearby islands, as they depend on this health facility for medical services.
