A book detailing the life and political journey of former National Federation Party leader Harish Sharma was launched at Jai Narayan College yesterday.
Mr. Sharma, who has also held the positions of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Housing, Urban Development, and Information following the 1987 General Elections, was praised by current NFP leader Professor Biman Prasad. He referred to Mr. Sharma as “an embodiment of wisdom, authority, goodwill, and a shining example of what one can achieve through political morality, transparency, and accountability.”
Professor Prasad remarked on the remarkable achievement of Mr. Sharma, who is approaching 90 years of age, in writing his memoirs. He expressed admiration for Mr. Sharma’s ability to recall significant events and activities from his life, emphasizing the importance of thorough research in compiling his story.
Entitled “The Road to Parliament – A glimpse into the life of Hon Harish C. Sharma,” the book reflects the journey of a man known for his humility, kindness, integrity, and honesty.
Professor Prasad shared insights into Mr. Sharma’s challenging childhood, which included the loss of his mother at just one year old, an experience that could have devastated many. He noted that Mr. Sharma faced numerous hardships during his school years, including mistreatment and living conditions that were far below standard.
Despite these challenges, Mr. Sharma demonstrated resilience and strength, which Professor Prasad highlighted as the true measure of a person’s worth. He described “The Road to Parliament” as a significant achievement in Mr. Sharma’s illustrious life.
